Help! / Research Tools and Resources
« Last post by NickDB8 on May 31, 2017, 07:01:39 PM »
Thought I'd start a post of various databases / resources to access. If anyone has more to add, feel free to send them my way, I'd like to add on to this post as time goes on to keep everything in one place. If a database requires a login, providing one would be nice, but is not required.

Getting Started / Meet the Exodus Staff

Exodus Staff and Associates should post a little about them here!

I'll start - I'm Nick, the Head Forum Representative for Exodus Files. At the time of me posting this, I will be entering my fourth year of debate at Emporia High School. Aside from cutting cards and producing files, my responsibilities include helping our members and customers on this forum, Cross-X.com, and the policy debate Discord server. I'm usually active, and almost always keep these three webpages open, so if you need help, feel free to send me a message, or make a post on the site.
Getting Started / Rules of the Site

Hi, welcome to the Exodus Forum!
The forum part of our website is designed for people to come together and discuss various debate arguments, ideas, and topics, among other things. However, we can't easily do this without a set of rules.

General Rules:
1. First and foremost, offensive rhetoric will not be tolerated, this includes offensive slurs, and unnecessary name calling. We will not condone any exclusionary language practices.

2. An extension of the first rule, curse-words are allowed, but don't be excessive with them. They can be used, but should not take away from or distract from the idea in your post.

3. Spam is a big no-no. This constitutes long posts irrelevant to the topic being discussed (including "copypastas" (unless they are relevant to the discussion)), multiple posts of the same meme, advertisements, etc. All discussion on this website should be productive.

4. The golden rule: treat others as you wish to be treated. See rule one, debate is already a small community, we should get along, not drive people away.

5. Have fun!

Rules Regarding Evidence Trading and Buying:
1. Do not, under any circumstance, trade or distribute the files you purchase from Exodus Files to other people on the forum (or anywhere else). Our staff puts effort into these, and deserves payment in return. They don't get that payment when you distribute them otherwise. Furthermore, a portion of the money we make goes to funding UDLs, underfunded debate programs, and keeping this site alive. That is impossible without the revenue from this website. Moreover, trading of files is permitted and encouraged, however, do not trade files being sold in the shop (i.e., if you have your own version of an argument, that is fine, but do not trade a file that can be bought here). Do not sell your own files on the forum. If you are interested in selling for us, please contact an administrator.

2. Exodus cannot be held accountable if you get ripped off in a trade, and may not be able to help in the event that you get ripped off. Trade at your own risk. Some tips to avoid getting scammed: Don't trade with anyone you don't feel comfortable with, you shouldn't be forced into it; ask to see the Table of Contents of the file you're trading for, this helps ensure that the file actually exists and contains the arguments you are looking for; be skeptical of low post counts and karma, if your trading partner has 3 posts and a mostly negative karma, be aware that this person may be sketchy; most importantly, if you have to second guess yourself, it may be better to not trade at all. All purchases made through our shop are 100% secure.

Virtual Debate Rules:
Coming soon!

Rules are subject to change at any time (but probably won't), and moderators / administrators may implement whatever punishment they see fitting towards those who break these rules. Some rules will be treated with heavier weight than others.

Trump Budget Disadvantage
Check out our new politics file on the store. The uniqueness is that the budget won't pass now but engagement with China leads to a slight popularity boost that allows him to pass the more sinister portions of his budget proposal. "Small" cuts to non-military sectors lead to cuts in the CDC that results in anti-biotic resistant bacterial disease outbreaks across the United States
